A bus belonging to Alam Asia Paribahan was set ablaze in the early hours of Tuesday in the Valukjan area of Fulbaria upazila, Mymensingh, resulting in the death of its driver, Julhas Mia, 35.
The incident occurred around 3:15am while the driver was inside the vehicle, which was completely gutted by the fire.
Fulbaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rokonuzzaman said that “a group of Awami League activists was allegedly involved” in the arson attack.
The charred body of the driver was recovered from the scene and brought to the police station compound.
Law enforcement authorities have launched operations to identify and apprehend those responsible for the incident.
