The deceased were Boishakhi Bala Roy, 40, wife of Supek Chandra in Madhbpur area and Dupuri Bala Roy, 45, wife of Tarani Kanti Roy.
According to local sources, some women were returning home from a function of newly elected chairman of Sheikhpura union council. At one stage, a tractor ran over them in the area leaving Boishakhi dead on the spot and five injured.
Later, the injured were sent to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital where Dupuri died.
When contacted, Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge Redwanur Rahim said a team of police were sent to the spot.
