Following the confirmation of rape allegations in an internal investigation, the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) administration has expelled two students from the sociology department.
Shajedul said that the matter was first approved by the disciplinary committee and later by the syndicate.
He mentioned that the expulsion decision was made by the syndicate based on the recommendations of the disciplinary committee, following the approval of the investigation report submitted by the committee formed to probe the incident of sexual assault.
On May 19, the day before Eid, Shanto and Swagato were accused of drugging and raping a fellow student before a concert in Rikabibazar, and later blackmailing her using video footage of the incident.
Police detained both of them that same night.
On May 20, the survivor filed a case at ith Kotwali police station against the two detainees and three others, who are currently in police custody.
