An unidentified woman (approximately 25-year-old) was killed after being run over by a train in the southern Notun Bazar area near Tongi Railway Station.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning.
Her body was recovered and sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Ali Jinnah of Dhaka Railway Police said that upon receiving the news, police recovered the severed body of a woman from the railway tracks near Tongi Railway Station.
After completing legal procedures, the body was sent to DMCH for an autopsy.
He added that the identity of the deceased woman has not yet been determined. Efforts are underway to identify her. According to locals, she was reportedly hit and run over by a train while crossing the tracks.
Police stated that the incident is under investigation and all possible efforts are being made to identify the victim.
