Bangladeshi youth killed by BSF gunfire in Panchagarh

A Bangladeshi youth has been killed by gunfire from the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Suidanga area opposite India’s Khalpara, near the Bhitargarh border in Sadar Upazila of Panchagarh district.

The deceased, identified as Al-Amin, 36, was a resident of Jinnatpara village under Haribhasa union in the Sadar Upazila of Panchagarh. He was the son of Suruj Ali.

According to sources from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and residents, Al-Amin had been missing for the past three days.

In the early hours of Friday, a BSF patrol team from the Indian Bhatpara camp spotted a group of 10-15 people, including Al-Amin. The BSF opened fire, causing the group to flee. However, Al-Amin was shot, and the BSF took his body into India.

Upon receiving the news, Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Md Badruddoza, the commanding officer of the 56th BGB Battalion in Nilphamari, held a flag meeting with the commander of the 46th BSF Battalion of India near border pillar 744/7-S.

A demand was made for the return of the deceased's body.
