Police in Baraigram, Natore, have arrested a local Awami League leader just hours after a TikTok video of her dancing in front of the police station went viral.
She was arrested from her home early Tuesday and was later produced in court at noon.
The arrested woman has been identified as Shiuli Begum, 40, women’s affairs secretary of the Natore District Sramik League and vice-president of Baraigram Ward No. 4 Awami League.

She was taken to Baraigram Amli Court in the afternoon, but as of 3pm, she had not yet been presented before the judge. Additionally, no lawyer had filed a bail application on her behalf.
The controversy started on Monday afternoon, when a 17-second TikTok video of Shiuli Begum dancing in front of the Baraigram police station’s main gate surfaced online.
In the video, she is seen dancing to the song: “Police Chorer Preme Poreche” (Police have fallen in love with a thief).
Regarding the incident, Baraigram police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sirajul Islam said: “The video was recorded without our knowledge. We learned about it from others. She was later shown arrested in an explosives case and sent to court.”
