The Jatiya Nagorik Committee has issued a 24-hour ultimatum for the arrest of those involved in the attack on Anti-Discrimination Student Movement activists at the ancestral home of former minister KM Mozammel Haque in the Dhirashram area of Gazipur Metropolitan.
The demand was made during a protest rally at Rajbari Field in Gazipur on Saturday afternoon, attended by leaders of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee’s Gazipur district and metropolitan units, Islami Chhatra Shibir, and various political and organizational figures.
Speakers at the rally warned that if the attackers were not brought to justice within the deadline, they would shut down institutions, block roads and waterways, halt industries in Gazipur, and eliminate what they called "fascist accomplices" before ending their movement.
Arif Sohel, central member secretary of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, stated: “Our brothers are still under attack—we have received reports. We won the battle in July, and we are ready once again. The Awami fascist group is attacking homes, businesses, and religious institutions while trying to shift the blame onto us. Everyone must remain vigilant and resist collectively. We must systematically free Gazipur’s land from fascism.”
Ali Rasel Khan, a central organizer, demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for Friday’s attack, the cancellation of the Awami League’s registration, and the confiscation of their properties. He also called for the removal of officials who failed to maintain law and order.
Haider Ali, training secretary of Gazipur Metropolitan Chhatra Shibir, said: “Even after July, fascist accomplices are attempting to re-emerge. They are still attacking our brothers in different areas. From this rally, we call on the interim government to identify and bring these accomplices to justice immediately.”
During the protest, students and activists blocked the main gate of the District Commissioner’s office.
