Winter is here: Naogaon logs country's lowest temperature at 10.6˚C

On Sunday, the country’s lowest temperature was recorded in Badalgachi, Naogaon, at 10.6°C, confirmed by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The district also held the record for the lowest temperature the previous day, with 9.9°C, which remains the coldest temperature recorded there this year.

As the cold intensifies, the suffering of underprivileged and daily-wage workers is on the rise.

Locals report that the cold becomes more severe in the evenings, with icy winds significantly amplifying the chill.

People are seen wearing warm clothing from evening until dawn when the surroundings remain blanketed in fog.

However, the cold subsides quickly as the sun breaks through the mist in the morning, bringing warmth as the day progresses.

Mizanur Rahman, an official at the Badalgachi Agricultural Weather Observatory in Naogaon, said that the district recorded 10.6°C at 6am on Sunday.

On Saturday, the temperature was 9.9°C, indicating a 1.4 degree rise within 24 hours.

He further mentioned that the cold might intensify in the coming days due to icy winds blowing in from the north.
