Mamunul Haque: Hefazat-e-Islam to ensure security of Hindus if state fails

Hefazat-e-Islam's General Secretary Maulana Mamunul Haque has said that if the state fails to provide security to the Hindu community, Hefazat-e-Islam will take responsibility for their safety.

He assured there was no need to fear but cautioned against involvement in any conspiracies against the country.

He made this statement while addressing a public gathering organized by the Khelafat Majlish at the Government Rajendra College Ground in Faridpur on Wednesday.

During his speech, Mamunul Haque further said: "Iskcon is a terrorist organization, and it will be stopped. They are trying to disturb the peace of the country. Iskcon must be banned immediately, or Hefazat-e-Islam will be forced to take to the streets. We will ensure the safety of Hindus."

Regarding the previous Awami League government, the General Secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam commented: "The previous oppressive government appointed its own people in the judiciary and administration and did whatever it wanted. They had pitted the law enforcement agencies against the people, which led to their downfall during the movement in 2024. Just like Sheikh Hasina’s father, who established a reign of terror, the creation of '75 happened because of this."

"Sheikh Hasina, believing in a politics of vengeance, eventually took revenge even on her party's loyal members. She has emptied the country's banks, and now people cannot even get their money from the banks. She has destroyed the state structure, and yet they are still trying to do politics," he added.

Addressing the current government, he said: "You have not been in power for a long time, and you must arrange for a national election within a specific time frame. We do not want the religious scholars of this country to take to the streets demanding elections."

The meeting was presided over by Maulana Amjad Hossain, and other speakers included Maulana Helal Uddin, Maulana Akbar Ali, Maulana Jalal Uddin Ahmed, and Mufti Sharafat Hossain, among others.
