Police have filed three cases in Chittagong following clashes linked to the imprisonment of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sommilito Sanatani Jagaran Jote.
The cases were lodged at Kotwali police station in the port city on Wednesday afternoon, confirmed Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), Kazi Md Tarek Aziz.
He said that the cases were filed over incidents of obstruction and attacks on law enforcement personnel at the court premises, in front of Rangam Convention Hall, and at the Kotwali intersection in Chittagong.
According to police sources, the case related to the court premises names 49 individuals accused and 600-700 unidentified persons.
The case concerning the incident in front of Rangam Cinema Hall lists 14 accused and 300-400 unidentified persons, while the Kotwali intersection case includes 13 named accused and 250-300 unidentified individuals.
On the matter of the lawyer's murder, ADC Tarek Aziz mentioned that the deceased lawyer's family has yet to approach the police station.
The murder case will be officially filed once they come forward.
