A madrasa teacher has been arrested by police in Tangail's Mirzapur upazila for allegedly molesting a student.
He was arrested from Darul Falah Hifz and Pre-Cadet Madrasa on Bawar Road in the upazila on Saturday night.
The arrestee is Hafez Sabbir Islam, 21, of Firingipara village in Latifpur union of the upazila.
According to the police, on November 14, the 10-year-old student was called by the madrasa teacher in the fourth-floor residential room of Darul Falah Hifz and Pre-Cadet Madrasa.
After learning about the incident, the student's mother filed a case at Mirzapur police station on Saturday.
Later that night, the police arrested the accused teacher Sabbir Mia from that madrasa.
Madrasa Director Zubair Hossain said that he came to know about the incident after the police arrived at the madrasa. He said that the madrasa teacher had been fired.
In this regard, Mirzapur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mosharf Hossain said that the arrested teacher had been sent to jail after a case under the Oppression of Women and Children Act.
