Sarjis: No political return for Sheikh Hasina and allies without trial

Sarjis Alam, General Secretary of the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation, said that Sheikh Hasina and her associates have no right to engage in politics until they face trial.

"We forget everything from our place, we forgot those sixteen years, we forgot those 36 days, now we are with something new. But this answer must be given to the murderer Hasina and until these issues are resolved, until a rational trial is held.

“They should say one thing about their trial in Bangladesh, there is no question of anyone defending them on their behalf on the question of their rehabilitation. We will not let this happen even at the cost of our lives."

He told journalists this at the Barisal District Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Saturday at 11am while inquiring about the family members of the martyrs of Barisal division during the movement.

Sarjis said: "How can we console the parents, brothers and sisters of the martyred families of my brother and sister who were martyred?”

He said the murderer Hasina has always tried to consolidate power by telling stories of 1975, 50 years ago. How did she kill 2,000 people now? If she understands compassion, how can she commit these murders? They have no right to live in Bangladesh with the political platform they have in mind.

Sarjis Alam also said: "I cannot speak for everyone here. But everyone has their own pain and suffering, it is not worth talking about them. Again, not everyone can say it, not everyone can express it. I have many sisters who lost their husbands a few days after their marriage, how will they spend their entire lives? A newborn who did not know before coming into the world that he would never see his father's face, did not know that his father would never be able to hold him in his arms.”

At the District Shilpakala Academy, financial assistance of Tk5 lakh is provided to each of 79 martyr families of Barisal division by the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation.

In this regard, Sarjis said:”Under the 'Bangladesh by the Martyr Family' program, we are initially giving checques of Tk5 lakh by the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation. This is just the beginning; no one should think this is the end. We will try our best to fulfill their logical needs as long as they need them.”

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Delwar Hossain, Civil Surgeon Dr. Maria Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police Alaul Hasan, Chief Executive Officer of July Shaheed Smriti Foundation Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdha, Central Coordinator Mahin Sarkar, and family members of those killed and injured in July-August were present the program.
