Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Moinul Islam has visited the grave of Abu Sayed, a 12th-batch English student at Begum Rokeya University, who was killed in police gunfire during the anti-discrimination student movement, that managed to topple the Awami League-government.
The IGP arrived at Babnapur village in Jafarpur, Madankhali Union, Pirganj, Rangpur on Saturday at 11am.
He paid his respects by laying a wreath at Abu Sayed’s grave and offering prayers. Following the tribute, he met with the student’s family members to extend his condolences.
Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Majid Ali, July Martyrs Memorial Foundation General Secretary Sarjis Alam, and senior officials from the Rangpur district and metropolitan police administration were present at the event.
