Former ministers, MPs sued under Explosives Act in Brahmanbaria

A case has been filed in Brahmanbaria under the Explosives Substances Act, implicating two former ministers, eight MPs, and multiple district and upazila council leaders.

Anisur Rahman, a resident of Brahmanbaria's Sherpur area, filed the complaint at the Sadar Model police station, accusing another 200-300 unidentified individuals.

The Brahmanbaria Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mozaffar Hossain confirmed the filing on Friday night.

Prominent accused include Awami League President and former Housing and Public Works Minister RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, former law minister Advocate Anisul Huq, and former MPs Syed AK Ekramuzzaman, BM Farhad Hossain Sangram, Moin Uddin Moin, Shahjahan Alam Shaju, Fayzur Rahman Badal, Captain (Retd) AB Tajul Islam, Advocate Shah Alam, among others.

Former Zilla Parishad chairmen Shafiqul Alam, Md Billal Mia, and district Awami League leaders are also named in the complaint.

Anisur Rahman alleges that the accused, using local weapons, assaulted anti-discrimination student activists on August 4, between 10am and 12pm.

The incident reportedly incited fear in the area, with explosive devices set off to assert dominance.
