Superintendent of police’s phone snatched in front of residence in Tangail

A mobile phone belonging to Imamur Rashid, commandant of the In-Service Training Centre and superintendent of police, was reportedly snatched from in front of his official residence in Tangail on Friday morning.

The incident occurred on Club Road, creating a stir in the local community.

Upon receiving the report, a team from Tangail sadar police station visited the scene at around 11:45am. They interviewed local residents and business owners while also collecting CCTV footage from the area.

Eyewitnesses said that Superintendent Rashid had stepped outside to check on his pigeons when a snatcher grabbed his phone and fled.

This is not the first time such incidents have occurred in the area. Several previous cases of snatching have been reported on Club Road, District Sadar Road, and near Bindubasini Government Girls' High School.

However, locals claim the police have not taken significant action in those cases.

Tangail sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tanbir Ahmed said that officers have been dispatched to investigate the incident, and efforts are underway to identify the culprit through CCTV footage.

Attempts to reach Superintendent Imamur Rashid for comment were unsuccessful.
