Protesters issue 3-day ultimatum for govt job age limit notification

People demanding an increase in the government job entry age have given the government three days to issue a notification based on the recommendations of a review committee, warning that they will resume their protests otherwise.

The protesters issued this warning during a press conference at Dhaka University's Madhur Canteen on Sunday.

Currently, the maximum age limit for entering government jobs is 30 years.

There have been regular programs demanding an increase to 35 years for several years.

However, the previous government rejected this multiple times.

After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina regime, the demand gained momentum again with the formation of an interim government.

In line with this, a committee was formed on September 30 by the interim government.

This committee recently submitted a report reviewing the protesters' demands.

Thanking the interim government, a spokesperson for the protesters, Imtiaz Hossain, said: "This government has valued our emotions. They formed a commission. Since this commission listened to our arguments, conducted discussions, and reached a decision to raise the age limit to 35 years for men and 37 years for women, we want a notification to be issued quickly according to this decision."

Issuing an ultimatum for the notification within three working days, he said that if the government advisers and the president do not issue the notification based on these recommendations within three working days, the student community will take to the streets again.
