Two BNP activists shot in Chittagong

Two BNP activists were injured after being shot by miscreants in Raozan upazila in Chittagong.   

The injured were identified as Masud Parvez Roni, 36, son of former Union Parishad member Sirajul Islam, and Md Sagar, 33, son of Osman.

Both are reportedly supporters of former MP Ghulam Akbar Khondkar. The victims were admitted to a private hospital in Chittagong city for treatment.

On Saturday  afternoon, the shooting took place in Ward No 4 of Noapara Union in Raozan upazila, said Mir Mahabubur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raozan police station. 

Local sources said the attackers, traveling in four CNG auto-rickshaws, opened fire and fled the scene.

Roni sustained three gunshot wounds to his hand and leg, while Sagar was shot in the thigh.

Speaking on the incident, OC Mahabubur Rahman said: "Two people were injured in the shooting at Noapara Union. No case has been filed yet, but the victims' families are expected to press charges. We are taking the necessary steps."
