6 platoons BGB deployed in Kushtia puja mandaps

To ensure the smooth celebration of the Sharadiya Durga Puja festival of Hindu community, six platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in Kushtia and Meherpur.  

Lieutenant Colonel Md Mahbub Murshed Rahman, the commander of the Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB), confirmed this information on Friday afternoon. 

The commander of the Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) said that BGB personnel are patrolling to ensure the security of the Durga Puja mandaps in Mirpur and Daulatpur upazilas of Kushtia and Gangni upazila of Meherpur, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB).

Six platoons of BGB members are patrolling these areas to ensure constant security.

He further said that the commanders of the BGB patrol teams are also present at the puja mandaps, conducting discussions with the members of the puja committees.

Additionally, it has been announced via loudspeakers that BGB is providing continuous support.

Local television channels are broadcasting the contact numbers of the authorities, making it easy for the public to reach out for any assistance from the BGB.

It is worth mentioning that this year, 230 temples in Kushtia are hosting the Sharadiya Durga Puja festival.

Among them, 72 temples are in Kushtia Sadar Upazila, 55 in Kumarkhali Upazila, 62 in Khoksa Upazila, 26 in Mirpur Upazila, 8 in Bheramara Upazila, and 7 in Daulatpur Upazila.
