The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained former land minister and former member of parliament from Khulna-5 Narayan Chandra Chanda during his attempt to flee to India illegally.
The BGB on Sunday night said the former minister had been detained at the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah.
Narayan Chandra assumed the responsibility of the land ministry after the 12th general election this year.
Previously, he was elected as an MP in the 2008, 2014 and 2018 elections.
On January 12, 2014, he was sworn in as the state minister for fisheries and livestock. After the death of then-minister Muhammed Sayedul Hoque, he took over as the minister of that ministry in 2018.
