Bangladeshi teen injured in mine explosion inside Myanmar territory

A Bangladeshi teen has sustained injuries in a mine explosion at Lalchar, near the Naf River, across the Myanmar border.

The incident occurred when Omar Faruk, 18, hailing from Hwaikyang, Teknaf upazila, Cox’s Bazar, crossed into Myanmar to collect fruit on Tuesday morning. 

He was seriously injured in his right leg in the explosion. 

Nur Ahmad Anwari, the chairman of Hwaikyang union, said he had heard about the incident through locals. 

Omar’s family members had rescued him from the site and taken him to a local hospital for treatment, he added.
