Two Bangladeshi citizens were arrested by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) while returning illegally from India without any valid documents through the Abdullahpur border in Akhaura of Brahmanbaria.
The arrest took place on Wednesday afternoon.
Two individuals were handed over to the Akhaura police station.
The arrested individuals are Narendra Bhowmik , 50, son of Nagendra Bhowmik from South Singhgram in Nasirnagar Upazila, and Bishwajit Bhowmik, 25, son of Narayan Bhowmik.
They had illegally went India through the Madhabpur border in Habiganj about a month ago.
According to a press release from the BGB, the two individuals were apprehended while on patrol at the border.
During interrogation, they stated that they had paid Tk12,000 to a man named Samir from the Lankamura area in Agartala, and Tk2,000 to Arif, son of Shams Bhuiyan from Abdullahpur in Akhaura, to facilitate their return to Bangladesh.
Previously, they had gone to India illegally for medical treatment.
