Parents await body of slain army officer in Tangail

Grief has engulfed a family in Tangail following the death of Lt Tanzim Sarwar Nirjan, 23, during a joint operation in Chakaria, Cox's Bazar.

His parents anxiously await the arrival of their son’s body, which is expected to reach Tangail by helicopter around 3pm.

Lt Tanzim’s home is in the Betka area of Kartia union, Tangail.

Initially, the body was scheduled to arrive at the Tangail helipad by 10am, but the army later informed that the helicopter would reach around 3pm.

Lt Tanzim Sarwar, a promising young officer, was commissioned into the Army Service Corps (ASC) on June 8, 2022, from the Bangladesh Military Academy’s 82nd long course, following his studies at Pabna Cadet College.

He was killed while attempting to thwart a robbery in Chakaria upazila, Cox's Bazar, around 3:30am on Tuesday. Lt Tanzim died after being stabbed while pursuing the robbers.

His parents, devastated by the loss of their only son, along with relatives, are demanding exemplary punishment for those responsible.
