Law Affairs Adviser Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul said the trial of the July murder must be acceptable and not based on revenge or vengeance.
“People saw with their own eyes that an old generation was addicted to killing a young generation of the country frantically. No matter how much pain, how much frustration, how much anger we have in our chest, the trial of the murders must be acceptable. We want to ensure justice.”
He said this at a view-exchange meeting on the amendment to the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, 1973 at the Judicial Administration Training Institute in the capital on Monday.
Dr Asif Nazrul said prosecution and investigation teams have already been formed to streamline the proceedings of the International Crimes Tribunal. “Now the most important challenge for us is to reconstitute the board (tribunal). Our reform will not stop here. This law will be amended with the opinion of all those who are experts in this regard.”
