Ten fishing trawlers capsize in Bhola, One fisherman missing

Ten fishing trawlers capsized in the Meghna River, Bhola and Monpura due to a severe storm, with one fisherman reported missing.

Among the ten trawlers, eight sank in Monpura while the other two went down in the Banger Char and Bhola Char areas.

The incidents occurred late on Friday and early Saturday morning.

On Saturday afternoon, Bhola District Fisheries Officer Bishwajit Kumar Dev confirmed the sinking of five trawlers.

Reports indicate that a sudden and intense storm hit the district on Friday night into Saturday morning.

Between 8pm and 9pm on Friday, eight trawlers sank in various locations along the Meghna River in Monpura, including Char Kalatali, Monir Bazaar, Ramnewaz Fish Market, South Sakuchia, Old Launch Ghat, and Kuthari Char.

The owners of the sunken trawlers are Md Alauddin, Md Bashar, Mainuddin, Mohiuddin, Md Yunus, Monir, Rafiq, and Md Sujan.

While all crew members of the eight trawlers that sank in Monpura were rescued, Md Alauddin, who was on Bashar's trawler, remains missing.
