In protest against the arson attack and communal assault on homes in Dighinala upazila of Khagrachari, the ethnic minority students held a protest rally in Bandarban town.
On Friday morning, the protest rally was organized by the "United Ethnic Minority Student Society" of Bandarban.
The rally, carrying various banners and festoons, started from the Rajbari field, passed through the main roads of the town, and gathered in front of the Press Club, where an assembly took place.
During the assembly, speakers said that the people of ethnic minority communities in the hill districts are facing various forms of oppression. Some miscreants are setting fire to their homes and attacking them.
The speakers demanded the immediate identification and arrest of those responsible for the recent incident in Khagrachhari, calling for exemplary punishment.
The procession was conducted by Dhaka University student Ananta Tanchangya, with speeches from the President of Bandarban Marma Student Council Aungzasing Marma, students Biton Tanchangya, John Tripura, Makhy Marma, Tonya Mro, and other leaders of various student organizations.

As the protest passed Larma Square, clashes occurred between some ethnic minority students and Bangali locals, leading to heightened tensions for a prolonged period, with several injured on both sides.
Later in the evening, a group of enraged individuals set fire to the market area near Larma Square, burning over 50 shops and injuring at least 10 people.
