16 sluice gates at Kaptai Hydro Power Plant reopened

The 16 sluice gates at the Kaptai Hydro Power Plant have been reopened once again.

The sluice gates of the Kaptai Karnaphuli Hydro Power Plant were closed on Monday.

However, due to continuous rainfall in the upstream areas in recent days, the water level in Kaptai Lake increased.

Consequently, the 16 sluice gates at the Kaptai Karnaphuli Hydro Power Plant were reopened by 6 inches each on Saturday afternoon.

As a result, 9,000 cubic feet per second of water is now flowing from Kaptai Lake into the Karnaphuli river.

By 6pm, the water level in Kaptai Lake was recorded at 108.55 feet above mean sea level.

This information was confirmed by ATM Abdus Jaher, the Chief Engineer of the Kaptai Karnaphuli Hydro Power Plant, at 6:03pm this evening.

Earlier, 16 gates were initially opened by 6 inches on August 25.

Subsequently, as the water level decreased, the gates were closed again on September 9.
