Sarjis Alam, a key coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said that from now on, everything in the country will be decided through the verdict of the students and the public, not by any fascist forces or dynastic powers.
The protest coordinator said: “I have received complaints from Thakurgaon about a practice of manipulating legal cases for money—filing charges and removing names both require payments. This widespread issue means no work is done without money. Such practices will no longer be tolerated.”
He questioned whether this misuse of power was the reason students and the public sacrificed their lives.
Sarjis Alam said that Thakurgaon will be at the forefront of the history of the mass uprising due to the leading role played by its people in the movement. Even when meetings and processions turned into battlegrounds, they did not back down.
Sarjis Alam said: “Voting only for the Boat symbol has been the biggest weakness of the minority brothers and sisters throughout their lives. They have created this weakness themselves by voting for just one symbol without thinking.”
Referring to the two seats in Thakurgaon being from the same family, he said: “Dabirul MP (Dabirul Islam) has established a dynasty in his area. His family members are everywhere. They have taken over land and property in this manner.”
The key coordinator also said: “I do not want to see anyone like Felani at the border. Before reforming the state, we must reform our families. Alongside joining different professions, one must also be a good politician.”
Present at the time were DU coordinator Sajib Bhuiyan, Jahir Raihan, Abu Said Swapan, along with local students and the public.
