Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have arrested two from Kanaighat border area in Sylhet while they were trying to enter India illegally.
They were arrested from 150 yards inside the border from the 1333 main pillar of the Dona border of the upazila around 2:30pm on Friday.
They also seized Tk16,000 and ₹10,200 from their possession.
The arrestees were identified as Mashiur Rahman, 48, residence of Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj and Liaquat Sheikh, residence of Charpadvilla village of Maheshpur union.
Jahangir Hossain Sarder, officer-in-charge of Kanaighat police station, said: "BGB is preparing to file a case against the two detainees. They are now at the police station."
Police sources said BGB members detained Mashiur and Liaquat when they were trying to enter India. They claimed that they had gone to India through that road 4/5 times before. But this time they were arrested by the BGB before leaving.
