The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has issued a 72-hour ultimatum for the chief executive officer and manager of the Payra Thermal Power Plant Project to resign over irregularities.
Rabiul Islam Antar, coordinator of the student platform, issued the ultimatum at a press conference held at Kalapara Press Club in Patuakhali on Thursday.
Both the CEO AM Khorshedul Alam and Manager Shah Abdul Maula were appointed during the Awami League regime and were involved in huge corruption, they alleged.
The students also announced an 11-point demand, which includes providing employment to people affected by land acquisition for the Payra Thermal Power Plant Project.
Families affected due to land acquisition were also present at the press conference. They demanded that the compensation money for the land acquisition should be given to the families at the earliest.
They also called on the authorities to ensure proper development in the affected areas through building small roads and culverts, planting trees, and providing various training to the affected families.
