One missing after boat capsizes in Padma

A man named Lakshman Chandra Das, 60, is missing after a boat capsized under the third pillar of the Padma Bridge in Munshiganj on Thursday afternoon.

It is reported that while returning from cutting grass on the Padma riverbank, the boat filled with grass capsized due to strong currents.

At the time, Lakshman was with four others. They were later rescued with the help of a fisherman.

The four who survived were Mannaf Soyel, Ismail Sheikh, Yusuf Howlader, and the boatman Mokhsan.

According to Fire Fighter Basudeb from Louhjong Fire Service, the boat capsized in the afternoon, but the Fire Service was only informed at 5pm. Due to the strong currents and the fact that both the boat and the missing person had drifted away, divers were not deployed.

Lakshman Chandra Das was a musician by profession, known for playing the flute and drum at various events.
