Railway authorities have halted all train services in the Sylhet region due to the worsening flood situation.
As of Thursday afternoon, all intercity trains running from Sylhet station to Chittagong, Dhaka, and other parts of the country have been suspended.
Sakhawat Hossain, the chief station master at Srimangal Railway Station, confirmed that the intercity Paharika Express train from Sylhet to Chittagong was turned back from Srimangal station.
Additionally, the Sylhet-bound Paharika Express train, which was en route from Chittagong, was redirected back from Shaestaganj Railway Station.
Sakhawat further said that the bridge near Shaestaganj Railway Station is in a critical condition, leading to the indefinite suspension of all train services to and from Sylhet.
