OC, 3 SIs of Mirzapur police station withdrawn, transferred

The officer-in-charge (OC) and three sub-inspectors (SIs) of Mirzapur police station in Tangail have been withdrawn and closed to the police line on charges of irregularities including corruption, arrest of innocent people, trade, and nepotism.

The police officers are OC Rezaul Karim, second officer and sub-inspector Abdul Karim, and sub-inspectors Ramakrishna Sarkar and Abul Bashar Mollah.

From the police line, three sub-inspectors have been transferred to different police stations.

The OC has not been posted in any police station so far.

OC (Investigation) Inspector Salauddin Ahmed has been currently serving as the officer-in-charge of Mirzapur police station.

The office of Tangail District Superintendent of Police confirmed the matter on Saturday.

There were allegations against them, from joining the Mirzapur police station; they have been involved in the syndicate, arrest trade, nepotism and various irregularities and corruption, according to local people.

The common people of the area including the other policemen of Mirzapur police station were angry about their immoral activities.

The victims complained that no one opened up about their fears when the Awami League government was in power.

In this regard, Tangail SP Golam Sabur said that the police officials have been withdrawn on the charges of various irregularities and corruption.

 A new OC will be appointed at Mirzapur police station if the situation is normal.
