A total of 29 senior officials at Rajshahi University (RU), including Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Golam Sabbir Sattar, Proctor Professor Asabul Haque, and Student Advisor Professor Jahangir Alam Saud, have resigned from their positions.
Between Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon, they signed their resignation letters, citing personal reasons, and submitted them at their respective offices.
This information was confirmed on Thursday afternoon by a source from the administration.
Multiple attempts to contact the university's Acting Registrar, Professor Tariqul Hasan, for further details were unsuccessful, as he did not answer his phone.
According to sources, in addition to the vice-chancellor, proctor, and student advisor, those who signed resignation letters include: Controller of Examinations Professor Ashraful Islam Khan, Director of Public Relations Professor Pronob Kumar Pandey, Director of Accounts Professor Sheikh Shamsul Arefin, Director of the Institute of English and Other Languages Professor Abdullah Al Mamun, Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell Dr Dulal Chandra Roy, Additional Directors Professor Moshiur Rahman and Professor Abdur Rashid Sarkar, Inspector of Colleges Professor A M Shahidul Alam, Administrator of the Legal Cell Sadiqul Islam Sagar, Director of the Central Science Laboratory Professor Syed Mostafizur Rahman, Acting Director of TSC Professor Mizanur Rahman Khan, Administrator of the University Press Sakhawat Hossain, Treasurer of Rucsu Zafar Sadiq, Administrator of the Central Cafeteria Professor Mahfuzur Rahman, Warden of Shaheed Mir Abdul Qayyum International Dormitory Professor Ataur Rahman, among others.
Additionally, all assistant proctors of the proctorial body have resigned.
They include Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, Dr Purnajit Mahaldar, Dr Hakimul Haque, Dr Zahurul Anis, Dr Saika Kabir Nitu, Dr Hamidul Haque, Dr Zakir Hossain, Dr Konok Parvez, Dr Ratan Kumar, Dr Kamruzzaman, and Dr Al Mamun.
The source from the administration informed that, since the Registrar's office was closed from Tuesday to Thursday, the officials signed and sealed their resignation letters in their respective offices before submitting them to the relevant authorities.
Some sent their resignation letters through various channels. Once the Registrar's office reopens, these resignation letters will be processed according to regulations, with each resignation taking effect from the time it was submitted.
