A Jubo League leader named Al Amin, 25, was beaten to death in Dhunot, Bogra, with another person injured in the attack.
The incident took place on Wednesday evening as they were traveling to Dhunot Bazar on a motorcycle.
Al Amin succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning at Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMC) Hospital, confirmed by Dhunot Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saikat Hasan.
According to police, eyewitnesses, and family members, the deceased, Al Amin, was the joint convener of the proposed committee of the Dhunot Municipal Jubo League. The injured individual, Abu Hanif, 24, from the same village.
Al Amin’s elder brother, Rana, said that on Wednesday evening, Al Amin left home and was heading towards Dhunot Bazar on a motorcycle with his neighbor, Abu Hanif. As they reached the boro bridge, a group of assailants armed with various local weapons blocked their path and brutally assaulted them.
Locals later rescued the victims and admitted them to Dhunot Upazila Health Complex. When Al Amin’s condition worsened, he was transferred to Bogra SZMC Hospital, where he passed away on Thursday morning while receiving treatment.
Dhunot Upazila Jubo League President Sheikh Matiur Rahman confirmed Al Amin’s political affiliation, said: "Al Amin was killed due to internal party conflicts."
OC Saikat Hasan said: "An investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the murder. The body has been sent to the morgue at Bogra SZMC Hospital. As of this afternoon, no case has been filed regarding the incident."
