Kashimpur jail superintendent replaced after mass prisoner escape

The superintendent of Kashimpur High-Security Central Jail, Subrata Kumar Bala, has been withdrawn following the escape of prisoners from the facility.

A new superintendent, Main Uddin, was appointed in his place on Thursday morning, Subrata confirmed to the media.

On Tuesday afternoon, 209 inmates escaped after taking prison guards hostage at Kashimpur High-Security Central Jail.

Six people were killed in the ensuing gunfire, including three militants.

Superintendent Subrata Kumar Bala was withdrawn due to the prison's failure to maintain security during the inmates' riot and escape.
