Two students arrested in a case filed by the police related to violence centred on the quota reform movement have been granted permission to take their Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams from prison.
The students, Md Fahim Parvez and Md Zahid Hossain, are currently detained in Satkhira District Jail.
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Jessore authorized Fahim and Zahid to sit for their exams in jail.
An official notice dated July 31, signed by Exams Controller Biswas Shaheen Ahmmad, states that Satkhira Government College will manage the provision of answer sheets, question papers, attendance sheets and the overall conduct of the exams inside the prison.
The letter also specifies that all expenses related to conducting the exams in prison must be borne by the guardians of the students.
In light of the situation arising from the quota reform movement, the government on Thursday rescheduled the HSC and its equivalent exams to resume on August 11. All exams prior to this date were postponed.
The directive issued by the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee said exams scheduled from August 4 onwards had been postponed.
These postponed exams will now be conducted according to a new schedule starting August 11.
The new schedule states that the postponed exams will take place between August 11 and September 8, followed by practical exams.
Previously, the HSC exams had been postponed multiple times.
Initially, the exams scheduled for July 18 were postponed, followed by the exams on July 21, 23 and 25. Subsequently, the exams from July 28 to August 1 were also postponed.
