At least 10 students were injured in an attack while they were holding a protest march demanding quota reform.
The protestors said that students from various educational institutions in Naogaon organized a protest procession from Hat Naogaon High School around 11am on Thursday to demand quota reform and protest attacks on students across the country.
When the procession reached the old bus stand area through the Gosthati junction, some outsiders attacked the students, injuring 10.
Atiqul Islam, a protesting student, said that some students of the school took out a peaceful procession from Hat Naogaon High School to protest the quota system reform and the attack on ordinary students. When the procession reached the old bus stand area, some outsiders attacked them, injuring at least 10 protesting students.
Meanwhile, district BNP Convener Abu Bakar Siddique visited Naogaon General Hospital to see the injured students.
He said: "Ordinary students are protesting for a just demand. Today's attack in Naogaon is extremely barbaric. Two of the injured have been sent to Rajshahi Medical Hospital in critical condition."
He added that the BNP stands with the students in this difficult time.
