Students of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (Duet) blocked the railway track with a red flag on the north side of the railway junction at Joydebpur on the Dhaka-Mymensingh railway line.
The program began at 11:45am on Wednesday.
Hanif Ali, the railway junction station master in Joydebpur, confirmed the information.
Earlier, they staged a sit-in and protest march in front of Duet Central Shaheed Minar against the High Court's order reimposing the quota.
Duet students took out a protest procession from the campus and demonstrated in the Shibbari area of Joydebpur.
Later, they moved to the railway line and blocked it. The students are participating in this movement as part of a central program and will continue their agitation until their demands are met.
Arman Chowdhury, the convener of the Duet student movement, said: "We are carrying out a peaceful movement today (Wednesday) as a part of the nationwide movement to realize our demands. Today, we are holding this protest against the High Court's order to restore 56% quota, including 30% freedom fighter quota, in the first- and second-class government jobs and to demand the reinstatement of the 2018 circular."
More than a hundred Duet students participated in the quota movement.
Attempts to reach Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Syed Rafiul Karim for a statement were unsuccessful.
