Rohingya man found dead with slit throat in Cox’s Bazar camp

A Rohingya man was found dead with his throat slit in a camp in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar early Wednesday.

The incident took place in the hilly area of the extended part of Ukhiya No. 4 Rohingya camp.

The deceased, Noor Mohammad, 30, son of late Ali Ahmed of Block D of Rohingya Camp No. 4, was a teacher in the camp.

Ukhiya police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shamim Hossain said that while going for Fajr prayer in the Block D mosque in the extended part of Rohingya Camp No. 4, a group of Rohingya miscreants stopped Noor, hacked him with a sharp blade, and slit his throat. He died on the spot. The Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and local police reached the scene and recovered his body. Later, the body was sent to the district headquarters hospital for post-mortem.

OC Shamim said: “It is believed that the miscreant group may have carried out this murder to gain dominance in the camp.”
