SCC announces 3-day program over councilor’s residence attack

The Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) has announced a three-day program demanding the arrest of those involved people in connection with the attack and vandalism at the residence of councilor Azadur Rahman Azad.

Azad is the councilor of ward no 20 of the SCC.

This decision was taken in an emergency meeting held in the meeting room of Nagar Bhaban on Saturday presided over by Acting Mayor Md Mukhleshur Rahman Kamran.

Sylhet City Corporation Public Relations Officer Sajlu Laskar confirmed the matter.

 A total of 57 hours of strike will be observed in 42 ward councilor offices including Nagar Bhaban starting from 12 noon of Sunday.

Additionally, a sit-in program will be held at Tilagarh Point on Monday and a memorandum will be submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Local Government, and local administration on Tuesday.

The acting mayor strongly condemned the heinous attack and vandalism at the house of 5-time elected councilor.

He demanded the arrest of the attackers and maximum punishment.

General and reserved councilors and officials of all wards of Sylhet City Corporation were present at the meeting.

Councilor Azad's residence came under attack in Bhatatikar area of the Sylhet city early Friday.

Four people were injured in the attack.
