Outgoing Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed hoisted the flag of a newly formed brigade company of Bangladesh Army’s 9th Infantry Division at the Sheikh Russel Cantonment in Shariatpur.
The army chief also inaugurated a branch of Trust Bank in Lohagora upazila.
While hoisting the flag, he congratulated all personnel of the newly formed unit and recalled Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all those who had sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country.
Mentioning that Forces Goal-2030 was formulated on the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed said that this unit is another stepping stone towards this Forces Goal.
Earlier, he was received by the GOC of the 7th Infantry Division and the area commander of Barisal. A farewell darbar was also held in honour of the outgoing army chief.
Later, he visited Modhumoti Army Camp and opened a branch of Trust Bank in Lohagora of Narail. He also distributed Eid gifts and saplings among general people.
