During the Eid-ul-Azha holidays, Cox’s Bazar is preparing to welcome a surge of tourists with enhanced security measures by the Tourist Police and district administration.
Hotels, motels, and guest houses in the area are offering special discounts of up to 40% and have started accepting advance bookings.
As the world's longest sea beach, Cox’s Bazar attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors daily, with expectations of even higher numbers during the festive period.
Md Abdur Rahman, a tourism entrepreneur in Cox's Bazar, said that although tourists are always present, their numbers increase significantly on special days. To enhance their enjoyment and ensure a comfortable trip, discounts of up to 40% are being offered centered around this Eid-ul-Azha.
Md Mokhim Khan, the general secretary of the Cox's Bazar Kalatoli Marine Drive Hotel Resort Owners Association, mentioned that the hotels and motels are well-prepared for Eid and are always vigilant to ensure safe travel for tourists.
Selim Newaz, the general secretary of the Cox's Bazar Residential Hotel Motel Guest House Owners Association, said that the business was good during the first 10 days of the last Eid-ul-Fitr, but afterward, the number of tourists decreased. This situation has led to significant losses. They hope that the influx of tourists during the Eid holidays will help recover these losses.
Abul Kasem Sikder, president of the Cox's Bazar Hotel-Motel and Rest House Owners Association, noted that this year, due to exams in schools and colleges, higher temperatures, local elections, and Cyclone Remal, the number of tourists has been lower compared to other years. However, there is still a chance of a last-minute surge in tourist arrivals.
Regarding strengthening security for Eid, the Additional DIG of Tourist Police, Cox's Bazar Zone, Apple Mahmud, said that security measures in tourist areas will be intensified for the safety of tourists expected during Eid. Special teams will be deployed, and these teams will maintain a strong stance against all criminals to ensure beach security and overall safety. The Tourist Police will always maintain a zero-tolerance policy in the interest of tourism.
Not only Cox's Bazar sea beach, but all other tourist spots in the district are also expected to freely welcome and accommodate tourists.
