All tourist spots declared closed in Sylhet

As the flood situation worsened in Sylhet due to continuous rains and landslides, the administration declared all tourist spots of Sylhet including Sada Pathor, Ratargul, Bisanakandi, Jaflong, Lalakhal closed until further notice.

This information was informed in an order signed by Companiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sanjit Kumar Chand on Thursday.

Sylhet District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md Abdul Quddus Bulbul said that all kinds of preparations have been made for the flood victims, and 470 shelters have been opened in the district by the administration.

Among the five upazilas, 56 shelters have been opened in Gowainghat, 48 in Jaintiapur, 18 in Kanaighat, 35 in Companiganj and 58 in Zakiganj, he added.

Besides, 1,000 sacks of dry food, 75 metric tons of rice and two and a half lakh cash have been allocated for the flood victims of five upazilas of Sylhet. Considering the situation, more relief materials will be distributed in these upazilas.
