Police recovered the bodies of two fishermen from the side of a canal in Khurushkul Manupara of Cox's Bazar Sadar around 10am on Friday.
The deceased are Abdul Khalek and Md Yasin of the Khurushkul area.
Khurushkul Union Parishad Chairman Shahajan Siddiqui confirmed the information.
He said: "In the morning, locals found two bodies abandoned beside the canal and informed me. I then notified the police. The two victims were fishermen by profession. However, the cause of their death is still unknown. The police will determine it after the post-mortem."
Mujibur Rahman, the elder brother of Abdul Khalek, said his brother left the house around 11pm and did not return that night. In the morning, local residents informed him about finding the body by the canal. He believes his brother was killed in a pre-planned manner.
Regarding the incident, Cox's Bazar Sadar Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rokibuzzaman said: "The bodies of the two fishermen have been brought to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem. The cause of death will be known after receiving the report."
