Jamuna Express engine catches fire in Gazipur

The engine of the Jamuna Express suddenly caught fire while parked at Sreepur railway station in Gazipur on Thursday evening.

There was no disruption in train movement. However, around four passengers sustained minor injuries while getting off the train in panic.

Station Master Saidur Rahman said the Jamuna Express coming from Dhaka stopped at the station and its engine suddenly caught fire.

"Later, some passengers and the train driver got off to bring the fire under control. The engine caught fire due to overheating. The fire was extinguished with the fire extinguishers kept at the railway station," he added.

Rakib Miya, the duty officer at Sreepur Fire Station, said before they went to the spot, the railway authorities had extinguished the fire.
