People in Khulna are experiencing scorching temperatures as mercury was recorded at 41.2°C on Saturday.
People's lives have become exhausted. The extreme heat has put the working population in great trouble. Due to the heat, people are unwilling to leave their homes unless it is an emergency.
Achia Sultana, a housewife of Khulna said that after taking a bath, she was going out for work. The heat forced her to return home from the road. City life is exhausted in the intense heat.
"I have never seen the heat that has been experiencing recently. People cannot walk on the streets. Children can't even stay at home," she added.
Green Coconut seller Asim Dash said that there is a shortage of coconut in this heatwave. Therefore, the price of a small coconut is Tk80-90 per piece.
Rickshaw puller Mamun Sheikh said: "If I could not drive the rickshaw due to the heatwave , my family would not survive. If I sit for a day, they will not get food.”
On April 16, 2023, the maximum temperature in Khulna was recorded at 41.3°C, which was the highest temperature in Khulna so far.
Amirul Azad, officer-in-charge of Khulna Meteorological Office, said that the temperature increased day by day in the last four days.
Rain may occur in Khulna region on Sunday. In that case, the temperature may drop.
