Malaysian woman flies to Kishoreganj for love, gets married

A woman from Malaysia has flown thousands of miles to Kishoreganj to marry the Bangladeshi man she fell in love with.

Misnewati Binte Misk got married to Din Mohammad by following all religious rituals on Tuesday.

Nine years ago, Renu Mia's son Din Mohammad, 28, moved to Malaysia in search of work.

In 2019, he met and fell in love with Misnewati Binte Misk, a Malaysian young woman, while working in a shop in the city of Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysian woman Misnewati Binte Misk, 25, is the daughter of Misk Bin Ali of Serambul Village, Kalkampora, Kuala Lumpur. She came to Karimganj in Kishoreganj, her boyfriend Din Mohammad's village, with obtaining a one-month visa.

When the news of the Malaysian girl's arrival spread, enthusiastic men and women of different ages in the village flocked to see her.

Din Mohammad's elder brother Khairul Islam said: “My brother told us everything. She came to Bangladesh by her own decision. After discussing with her family on mobile phone, they were officially married on Tuesday with everyone's consent.”

Din Mohammad said: “Actually, we may not be able to understand when and how love happened. Misnewati's relationship with me is just like that. From a sudden meeting to friendship, then slowly we started loving each other. After three years of love affair, she moved to this country for me, and we got married with the consent of the family.”
