Barisal Press Club president and local daily Ajker Barta publisher, Kazi Nasiruddin Babul, was laid to eternal rest at the family graveyard after funeral prayers at Kazi Bari Jame Masjid in Kashipur on Sunday afternoon.
Babul, 72, served as president of the Barisal Press Club for 14 terms, general secretary for
one term, and was the founding editor of the local daily Ajker Barta. Additionally, he authored the book “Sangbadpatro O Sangbadikota”.
He passed away at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital Research Institute in Dhaka at 8:30 on Saturday, leaving behind his wife and two sons. Upon the arrival of his body at his native home in the city early on Sunday, a shadow of grief enveloped the mass media, professional, and socio-political arenas of the city and region.
People from all walks of life, including various media representatives and leaders from various socio-political arenas, as well as officials from government and non-government offices, participated in the funeral prayer and burial proceedings.
Kazi Babul's elder son, Kazi Russell, addressed the mourners on behalf of his father. Later, Maulana Khalilur Rahman of Nesarabad led the funeral prayer.
