A case has been filed against the chairman of a madrasa managing committee in Mongla, Bagerhat, on charges of raping two children.
The accused was identified as Awal Sardar, son of the late Mohar Ali Sardar from the Sundarbans union.
One of the rape survivor's father filed the case with Mongla police station on Sunday morning.
Mongla police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) KM Azizul Islam confirmed the matter.
He said: “Awal Sardar raped two children from a madrasa in Madur Palta village of Sundarbans union in Mongla upazila on February 10 and 14. In this incident, the father of one of the rape survivor’s children filed a case on Sunday morning under the Women and Child Abuse Suppression Act.”
The OC also said efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
Sundarban Union Parishad Chairman Ikram Izardar, said: “This person (Awal Sardar) has committed such wrongdoing before. The rape incident is true. It should be brought to justice.”
