Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday hoped that “Jasim Palli Mela-2024” will contribute significantly to reach to people the unique literary talent and patriotism of the poet Jasimuddin, commonly known as 'Palli Kabi (folk poet)'.
The premier expressed this hope in a message marking the birth anniversary of poet Jasimuddin.
"I am happy to know that 'Jasim Pallimela 2024' is being organized in Faridpur on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Palli Kabi Jasimuddin. I welcome the initiative to publish a memorial on this occasion," she said.
Poet Jasimuddin had highlighted the struggling life of the people of rural Bengal in his pages of literature.
He took Bengali literature to a special place in the international arena, she said, adding that the extraordinary beauty of rural nature is revealed in the mood, language, taste and color of poet Jasimuddin's poems.
The greatest Bangalee of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and poet Jasimuddin were best friends, she said.
"They had immense respect for each other. Poet Jasimuddin always considered Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib as a continuous inspiration for literature and culture," Sheikh Hasina added.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wished “Jasim Palli Mela-2024” a success.
